Shuicheng Peak Forest
Surrounding the urban area of Liupanshui City. “Of all the famous mountains under heaven, only here forms a peak forest.” These towering, majestic peaks rise abruptly, their rugged rocks taking on a myriad of shapes; between the peaks lie serene rivers and lakes, reflecting the beautiful summits. The mountains are also home to many extraordinary caves, where stalactites, stalagmites, stone flowers, and other sedimentary formations create a dazzling array of landscapes, truly earning the title of an earthly “Dragon and Phoenix Palace.”
The peak forest landform, also known as conical karst mountain landscape. Over the long geological ages, the carbonate rock strata in the Liupanshui region have been shaped by water erosion, wind weathering, and crustal movements, forming a karst mountain landscape composed of conical (or pyramidal) peaks (or hills) and polygonal solution depressions.
