Ulu Mountain A’er River Scenic Area

It takes about 15 minutes by car from downtown Liupanshui to reach the A’er River. The A’er River Canyon spans dozens of square kilometers and is not connected to other scenic areas within the Ulu Mountain Geopark, forming an independent attraction.

Boating on the A’er River is the most unique and delightful experience when exploring the canyon. The river water is emerald green and crystal clear, with meandering and twisting waterways. “Turn after turn the mountains bend, peak after peak the waters flow around”—the peaks on both banks are reflected in the water, and each bay offers a different view. Cruising upstream, the scenery constantly changes, presenting endless variety.

The A’er River Canyon was formed along a series of strike-slip faults. Due to the influence of these faults, the steep cliffs on both sides of the river jut out abruptly from the banks and plunge straight into the water, resembling eagles spreading their wings or towering peaks piercing the sky, standing majestically and impressively high.
