Climb Zhongshan Mountain

Located on Huangtupo in the urban area, also known as "Golden Bell Lying on the Ground." It is round-shaped with a slightly pointed top. The mountain is covered with lush trees and shrubs and has been developed into Zhongshan Park. Cement steps lead to the summit, and a plank walkway-style trail winds halfway up the mountain, encircling the waist of the hill like a jade belt. Several long pavilions are built along the mountain’s slope, resembling the ears of a bell from afar, with open railings where visitors can rest and enjoy the view. At the foot of the stone wall inside one of the pavilions, cool mountain spring water bubbles up continuously throughout the year. To the east above the mid-mountain pavilion, there is a grapevine-shaded pavilion surrounded by comfortable and quaint benches, stone chairs, and stone tables. Further up from the mid-mountain pavilion, the mountain becomes steeper, with stone steps for climbing and walking trails along the mountainside. The area is adorned with delicate, gleaming railings. At the top of the mountain stands a large cement pavilion, slightly rectangular in shape, with a cantilevered watchtower extending westward. A half-rail guardrail runs along the edge of the tower, leaving the walls open to form a lofty, expansive viewing platform. From this platform, visitors can overlook the panoramic view of the Water City below. The Meihua Mountains surge forward, creating a “Dragon Gate” opposite the western side of the viewing platform. To the southwest of Zhongshan Mountain, a row of majestic and orderly hills rise, as if the Zhongshan Mountain is “reviewing its generals.” The Dewu Basin resembles the bow of a boat-shaped basin in the Water City, with two mountain ridges to the north and south forming the hull’s sides. Huangtupo looks like a big carp raising its head upward, commonly referred to as “a carp leaping through the Dragon Gate.” On the “fish’s back,” along Zhongshan Avenue on both sides of the mountain, high-rise buildings stand tall, marking the city center of Liupanshui, as well as the locations of the municipal government and the Zhongshan District government. The Shuicheng Mining Bureau, Liupanshui Railway Station, and other areas are all clearly visible. Renmin Road stretches straight from Chayelin and extends along the northern foothills of Huangtupo at the base of Zhongshan Mountain, forming a “Ten-Li Long Street,” bustling with traffic like shuttles and pedestrians like ants. The Gui-Kun Railway passes by the northern foothills, with trains occasionally speeding by like long dragons. To the north of the mountain, the city sports center is built against the hillside, with clusters of venues and oval-shaped sports fields like jade platters, and football fields covered in green turf, all serving to further accentuate the beauty of Zhongshan Mountain.
