The Yide Stone Arch Bridge

Located 15 kilometers northwest of the city center, it spans the branch of the SanCha River in Daqiao Village, Dahe Town. During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, a wooden-plank bridge with stone piers was built. In the 28th year of the Republic of China (1939), it was reconstructed into a stone arch bridge on the original foundation. The bridge is 54.3 meters long and 5.4 meters wide, and when the water level is normal, the bridge deck is 8.6 meters above the water surface. Stone railings stand on both sides of the bridge deck, with circular carved stone dragons decorating the center of the railings—the dragon heads facing upstream and the tails downstream, appearing rustic yet vivid. The bridge has three arches: the southern arch spans 10 meters, the middle one 11.8 meters, and the northern one 8.4 meters. There are 15 stone steps at the southern bridge abutment and 10 at the northern one. The entire bridge is built with rectangular stone blocks, neat, sturdy, majestic, and spectacular. Before 1966, this bridge served as a vital route connecting Shuicheng and Weining, playing an important role in promoting economic and cultural exchanges between the two counties, and providing tangible evidence for the study of transportation development. It was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit on December 28, 1987.
