Tashui Martyrs' Cemetery

Tashui Martyrs' Cemetery is located in Tashui Village, Tashui Town, Shawan District, Leshan City, about 80 meters southwest of the Tashui Town Government.

On December 21, 1949, during the Battle of Tashui Bridge, the Chinese People's Liberation Army annihilated 895 officers and soldiers of the Chongqing Garrison Regiment of the Kuomintang, and captured more than 2,000 pieces of various types of mortars, light and heavy machine guns, and other weaponry. During the battle, four soldiers from the PLA were killed: Liu Tiemin, commander of the 154th Regiment; and soldiers Chang Xikong, Li Yuanchen, and Jiang Shuhuai. To honor the martyrs, on December 22, their bodies were placed in coffins and buried together at the foot of Guanshan Mountain behind the town. In March 1950, local residents of Tashui came to the martyrs’ cemetery to mourn and pay tribute, and the 154th Regiment of the PLA also sent representatives to present a memorial stele. Since 1950, teachers and students from nearby schools in Tashui have regularly visited the cemetery to pay their respects during the Qingming Festival, making it an important site for patriotic education among young people.

In October 1988, the People's Government of Shawan District, Leshan City, designated it as a district-level protected martyrs' memorial structure.
