Wannian Mountain

The Wannian Glow, also known as the Wannian Buddha’s Light, Wannian Lantern, or Wannian Mountain Scenic Wonder.

Wannian Mountain is located at the junction of Qingshi, Shuangluo,

and Renhe townships.

Covering an area of 20 square kilometers and standing 617 meters above sea level, it is the highest peak in the county. The mountain features steep terrain and rugged paths, with only small trails through the east, south, west, and north fortress gates leading to the summit.

Wannian Mountain boasts grand, exquisite, and elegant temple complexes. These include the main hall, front hall, and dining hall. The Guanyin Lower Hall gained fame across central and northern Sichuan after receiving the imperial plaque “Wannian Chanlin” (Wannian Buddhist Forest) from Emperor Zhaozong of Tang, Li Ye. A bustling temple fair is held annually on the 19th day of the second lunar month, attracting throngs of worshippers. Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty bestowed the title “Little Emei,” which was engraved on stone and remains to this day. The Wannian Lantern and the Buddha’s Light have shone brightly for a thousand years, twinkling under starlit skies.
