Dazhu Wufengshan Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Wufengshan, meaning "Five Peaks Mountain," got its name from five phoenixes that came to worship the sun but fell in love with the scenery and chose to stay, turning into five peaks. It is also commonly known as the Bamboo Sea Park due to its 400-hectare bamboo forest, which covers about half of the scenic area. The park is situated in the middle section of the Tongluo Mountain Range in Dazhu County. It is the most concentrated and largest natural area of white bamboo in the country, and is recognized as a national AAA-level tourist attraction, a national forest park, and a provincial low-carbon eco-tourism demonstration site.

Wufengshan Forest Park, also known as the Bamboo Sea Park, is located at Wufengshan in Yuehua Township, Dazhu County. About 18 kilometers from the county seat, it is a newly developed tourist destination in eastern Sichuan. It earned its name for its vast bamboo forests and diverse bamboo species. The park manages over 6,000 acres of bamboo-covered mountains, featuring more than 10 types of bamboo including nan bamboo, mottled bamboo, fishpole bamboo, white bamboo, bitter bamboo, and black bamboo. Over 100 varieties of handicrafts made from various grades of bamboo are produced here, all very popular among visitors. The park also hosts rare trees such as nanmu, rosewood, langshan, osmanthus, and camphor, while serving as a habitat for precious wildlife including hedgehogs, golden pheasants, bamboo partridges, goats, pheasants, and rabbits. There are also naturally formed large stone forests and several karst caves. Additionally, there are the famous Ming Dynasty giant pines and legendary trees like the Seven Sisters Tree and the Silk Cotton Tree, making the landscape truly breathtaking. All these elements decorate the endless sea of bamboo with vibrant colors and enhance the charm of this “Kingdom of Bamboo.”

The Bamboo Sea Park spans over 30 kilometers and features over 20 top attractions. Among the best are the Small Stone Forest, Tongtian Cave, Moon Palace Osmanthus, Observation Deck, and Nan Bamboo Forest.

In autumn, slender bamboos appear deep green while red leaves show off their beauty. In winter, the peaks are covered in silvery frost, and the green bamboo seems veiled. On sunny days, the sea of bamboo shimmers golden, intoxicating the soul. In the mist, the bamboo sea is veiled in smoke, creating a dreamlike, fairy-tale scene.

In the relatively water-scarce karst terrain of eastern Sichuan, the vastness and diversity of bamboo species in Wufengshan’s bamboo sea is nothing short of a natural miracle.

Next to the park entrance in Chaoyang Township lies a hot spring — Bai Dao Lake Hot Spring — with outlet water temperatures reaching 51°C and a daily yield of over 11,000 cubic meters from a single well, ranking first in the country. Rich in various mineral elements, this hot spring water is a rare geothermal medicinal mineral water. Wufengshan is currently being developed to national AAAAA-level tourist attraction standards as a “Hot Spring Paradise.” Once completed, it will become a large-scale eco-leisure resort offering both summer mountain retreats and winter hot spring soaks. Adhering to the concept of eco-tourism, Wufengshan National Forest Park integrates sightseeing, leisure, vacationing, hot spring therapy, science education, and cultural entertainment, welcoming guests from all over.
