The Sun Moon Lake Waterfront Trail has long been a must-visit attraction for travelers to Sun Moon Lake. Now, not only can you stroll along the trail, but you can also bike while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Recently, the shoreline trail connecting the Sun Moon Lake Cable Car Station to Shuǐwātóu (Frog Head) was opened to the public. Starting now, visitors can experience the best spots to watch the sunrise and sunset at Sun Moon Lake along this 1,500-meter-long trail.

The Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications stated that the cable car station to Shuǐwātóu Waterfront Trail is 1.5 kilometers in total length, featuring beautiful scenery along the way. Since it encircles the lake, it offers excellent opportunities for water activities and is one of the best spots for visitors to admire the sunrise, scenic views, and night scenery of Sun Moon Lake. The views change constantly throughout the day. Travelers can now also enjoy biking along the trail. Additionally, the trail is protected by a forest conservation area, ensuring safety while cycling under the trees along the waterfront.

The Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration pointed out that the Sun Moon Lake bicycle waterfront trail system will continue to expand. Plans are underway to connect the Shuishe to Songbai and then to Dazhuhu trails. A dedicated bike path crossing Dazhuhu Lake is expected to be completed next year, bringing the total length of the Sun Moon Lake Waterfront Trail system to 19 kilometers. It will definitely become a must-visit attraction for Sun Moon Lake tourism.

The Sun Moon Lake Ita Thao Visitor Center and its attached black tea house have also been officially unveiled and opened to the public. With its unique boat-shaped architectural design, it has become a new highlight on the lake. The visitor center also includes an emergency medical station and an ATM, making travel around Sun Moon Lake more convenient and reassuring.
