Typhoon Goni is here – full list of closures at national scenic areas across Taiwan

Here’s the latest update on closures at the 13 national scenic area management offices under the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications due to Typhoon Goni:

1. Northeast Coast National Scenic Area Administration:
Nine locations: Bitou area trails (Lighthouse Route), Longdong Bay Marine Park, Longdong South Bay Marine Park & Yacht Harbor, Lungmen Suspension Bridge, Fulong Beach, Beiguan Tidal Park Trail, Kuaikuang Coastal Recreation Area, Guishan Island, and Nanfangao Neipi Beach.

2. East Coast National Scenic Area Administration:
Ten locations: Jishih Cape Coastal Recreation Area (beach), Shitousing Recreation Area coastal trail, Green Island Shilang, Chaikou, and Dabai Sha snorkeling areas, Green Island Chaozhi Hot Springs, Baxian Cave, Siansiuitai, Jialulan, and Xiaoyeliu recreation area coastal trails.

3. North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area Administration:
New Taipei City Government has designated all coastal areas within the city as restricted zones during Typhoon Goni alert period — entry is not permitted without a pass. Additionally, Yehliu Geopark, Baishawan, and Qianshuiwan have been preemptively closed.

4. Huatung Valley National Scenic Area Administration:
Two locations: Mugumuyu and Luoshan Waterfall Trail. Also, the eastern section of Provincial Highway 20 (from km 135 to km 185, above Wulu Police Station, including Lide and Shiyang sections) on the South Cross-Island Highway is expected to be preemptively closed by highway authorities starting at 18:00 today (22nd). Affected attractions include Wulu Fort, Liukou Hot Springs, and Lide Tribe.

5. Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration:
Six locations: Shuishe Dashan, Shuishe Waterfront Trail, Hanbi Trail, Maolan Mountain Trail, Songbai Trail, and Dazhu Lake Trail.

6. Penghu National Scenic Area Administration:
One location: Tongpan Basalt Trail.
