Guilin Zoo

Guilin Zoo is located behind Camel Hill in Seven Star Park, Guilin, and is the city’s only professional zoo. Established in 1959, Guilin Seven Star Zoo covers an area of 2.3 hectares and houses over 300 animals of 50 species, including 16 under first-class national protection. Its facilities and animal care standards rank among the top of small and medium-sized zoos nationwide. In 2009, Guilin Zoo was relocated within Seven Star Park to a new site, with the first phase now completed and open.

The new park remains within Seven Star Park, covering an area of over 120 acres—four times the size of the old one. Once fully completed, it will feature 20 exhibit areas, double the original number. The entire park is divided into eight main functional zones: Central Plaza Area, Children's Play Area, Bird and Poultry Area, Animal Entertainment Area, Eco-Exhibit Area, Primate Area, Giant Panda Area, and Animal Performance Area. The first phase includes 17 venues such as the Flamingo Pavilion, Lemur Island, Giant Panda House, Primate House, Animal Lodge, and Kangaroo Garden.

The animal entertainment area in the new venue will host daily animal parades, offering visitors up-close experiences with the animals. The animal performance area features a butterfly-shaped tensile structure—the largest of its kind in South China—where regular animal stunt shows and humorous performances with local flavor will be staged. The second phase will include projects such as the “Bug Kingdom” mini theme park.
