The "Seven Stars in Kyushu," a luxury sleeper train in Japan built with a budget of 3 billion yen, will debut in October.

 

For many railway enthusiasts around the world, riding a sleeper train in Japan is surely a dreamlike rail experience. Now, in addition to the Hokutosei, Twilight Express, and the luxurious Cassiopeia, Japan’s sleeper train fleet will gain a new luxury member — the Seven Stars in Kyushu, set to officially launch on October 15.

The Seven Stars in Kyushu was built with an investment of 3 billion yen (over 900 million NTD), and its carriages feature a retro-luxurious blend of Japanese and Western styles, with wood and carpet used throughout. The train includes first-class, business-class, and lounge cars. The lounge cars are equipped with bars, where passengers can relax on sofas and swivel seats while enjoying panoramic views through large windows and live piano performances. As for the name "Seven Stars in Kyushu," it represents both the seven prefectures of Kyushu — Kumamoto, Fukuoka, Saga, Miyazaki, Kumamoto, Nagasaki, and Oita — as well as seven key tourism assets of the region: nature, hot springs, gourmet food, local hospitality, history and culture, power spots, and trains. It also refers to the seven carriages of the train.

The Seven Stars in Kyushu currently offers one 4-day, 3-night trip and one 2-day, 1-night trip per week. The 4-day, 3-night journey is priced between 115,000 NTD and 170,000 NTD, while the 2-day, 1-night trip costs approximately 46,000 NTD to 67,000 NTD.
