Seven uncrowded attractions to visit during Chinese New Year VII / Qixingling Scenic Trail – where you might even spot a mysterious military harbor?

With the Chinese New Year holiday lasting nine days, where’s the best place to go? This time, ETtoday News Cloud has invited professional domestic travel expert – Rou Lu – to share eight amazing and lesser-known scenic spots in Taiwan that are perfect for the New Year and won’t be crowded with traffic. [Yilan – Qixingling Trail]
The 4,750-meter Qixingling Trail was once an ancient path used by early settlers to cross the mountains. Walking along the trail, you can enjoy breathtaking views all around. Below lies the Su’ao Cold Spring, to the east is Su’ao Harbor, to the north is the Lanyang Plain, and to the south is the urban area of Su’ao. Most tourists visiting Yilan only go to the Su’ao Cold Spring, making this stunning scenic spot relatively unknown and giving it a sense of being a hidden paradise.

Rou Lu described the views from Qixingling as “incredibly beautiful.” One star for the cold spring view, two stars for the Su’ao view, three stars for the mountain ranges, four stars for the forest scenery, five stars for the harbor view, and six stars for the ocean vista. As you hike up the trail, the beautiful scenery unfolds along the way. When you reach the six-star ocean-view platform, all the picturesque sights are laid out before you, truly giving you the magnificent feeling of “standing atop Qixingling and feeling the world is small.”
