Planning an island-wide trip during Lunar New Year? Taitung unveils the “Eight Blessings” travel perks

In response to the anticipated influx of tourists during the nine-day Lunar New Year holiday, Taitung County Government stated that it hopes to provide returning locals and visiting travelers with more convenient transportation, better access to information, and a wider range of travel services while enjoying Taitung’s natural beauty. The public is also encouraged to report any instances of price gouging by accommodation providers.

The “Fun-filled Lunar New Year in Taitung – Eight Blessings Live Show” not only offers special shuttle buses for those heading home, but also introduces eight travel perks (“Eight Blessings”) for visitors coming to Taitung for vacation. These include: “Open for Business Over Lunar New Year with More Services,” “Shuttle Buses Take You Around Taitung – Smooth Travel All Holiday,” “Transparent Information for Well-Planned Trips,” “Taxi Carpooling to Save Your Wallet,” “Extra Lunar New Year Perks – No Worries About City Parking,” “Stay at Licensed Accommodations for a Fun Family Trip,” “Stamp Card Fun – Great Perks and Memories,” and “Protected Travel Spending – No Need to Worry When Seeking Help.”

These eight “Blessings” (or perks) include extended operating hours for the tourism service center (February 9–17, 08:00–18:00), increased availability of vacant accommodation inquiries, as well as specific measures such as Lunar New Year shuttle buses, transportation and road control information, taxi carpooling, temporary free parking areas, information on licensed accommodations, fun stamp cards, and consumer protection—all aimed at ensuring everyone can enjoy a fun and carefree trip to Taitung during the holiday.

Taitung County Magistrate Huang Jian-ting stated that this Lunar New Year, Taitung will host events such as the “New Year Gifts & Kids’ Fun – 2013 Lunar New Year Celebration” at Nanjing Road Square in Taitung City, as well as flower sea viewing activities organized by four local farmers' associations, making it perfect for family outings and unique experiences. The county has also ensured transparent information, disclosure of local transportation details, packaged tour planning, and clear regulations for local accommodation providers. Visitors and residents are encouraged to report any issues. He also urged businesses to exercise self-discipline and avoid excessive price hikes, welcoming everyone to explore and enjoy Taitung.
