The scenic landscapes of the Lanyang Plain have long been a renowned tourist destination in Taiwan, and viewing the scenery of Yilan and the Pacific Ocean from high ground is one of the most popular ways to experience it. Following the construction of the Nanfang'ao Viewing Platform, the Su'ao Qixing Ridge Trail and Viewing Platform were also completed this month. Once finished, visitors will be able to gaze at the views of the Lanyang Plain and Wubi Port from the platform, as well as enjoy the vast seascape of Turtle Island and the Pacific Ocean. In addition, the trail stretches 4,750 meters in length and sits at an elevation of 230 meters. Lined with lush flowers and shaded by green trees, it offers an ideal spot for visitors to escape the summer heat and enjoy forest bathing.

Prospective visitors can take a train to Su'ao Railway Station, and after exiting, it takes about a five-minute walk to reach the entrance of the Qixing Ridge Hiking Trail located next to the Su'ao Cold Spring. Along the trail, you can enjoy distant views of the Lanyang Plain and Wubi Port landscapes, the majestic seascape of Turtle Island and the Pacific Ocean, and the cultural scenery from Su'ao Harbor to the Nanfang'ao fishing village, while also overlooking Cold Spring Park and the living district of Su'ao Town. When descending, you can choose to retrace your steps along the same path or purchase a ticket to enter the Su'ao Cold Spring to enjoy the cool natural spring water after your hike.

The Su'ao Qixing Ridge Trail was originally built in 2003 by the Su'ao Township Office as a daily hiking spot for local residents. On December 5, 2007, when the jurisdiction of the Northeast Coast National Scenic Area was extended to the coastal region of Yilan, the Qixing Ridge Trail was also incorporated into the national scenic area and underwent renovation. After projects including trail surface repairs, installation of guardrails and rest platforms, and landscaping, the entire project was completed this month.
