For many travelers, taking a luxury sleeper train is not about saving on hotel costs or time at all—it’s about pursuing the rare dream of spending a noble night on the railway. Among Japan's sleeper trains, in addition to the Hokutosei, Twilight Express, and the luxurious Cassiopeia, the “Kyushu Seven Stars,” built at a cost of 3 billion yen, also set off on the 15th of this month. The previously highly confidential exterior design and interior fittings of the Kyushu Seven Stars have now been revealed to all sleeper train enthusiasts.

Emphasizing a retro-luxurious aesthetic that blends traditional Japanese and Western styles through wood and carpeting, the Kyushu Seven Stars features only one Luxury Suite A, one Luxury Suite B, and 12 standard suites—totaling 14 compartments—for up to 28 passengers. Additionally, an open observation deck is located at the front of the train, while the center offers seating where passengers can relax and enjoy the luxurious space, with various performances also scheduled to take place there.

As a luxury sleeper train, the Kyushu Seven Stars also has certain requirements for passengers. First, participants must be at least middle school age. In dining cars and public areas, jeans and slippers are not permitted, and smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the train to maintain the overall quality of the travel experience.

The itinerary of the Kyushu Seven Stars is divided into 4-day/3-night and 2-day/1-night options, with one trip per week, both departing from Hakata Station. They will visit famous tourist spots such as Yufuin, Miyazaki, Kirishima, Kumamoto, and Aso. The former costs between NT$115,000 and NT$170,000, while the latter is approximately NT$46,000 to NT$67,000. However, slots for the first half of next year are already fully booked, and reservations for the second half of next year will open in January.
