The Old Zhou Ancient Tunnel, located underground between Old Zhou Village in Shangxu Village, Wuzhuan Town, and Laojiu Mountain, was excavated during the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty by the Wei family, local Tusi rulers. The tunnel project was massive, measuring approximately 2 li in length, with varying widths of either 4.5 chi or 2.3 chi. Lanterns were installed along its length to provide light for travelers. There are four or five branch tunnels, most of which share similar construction. At turning points, doors were installed to open and close. Those entering it for the first time often lost their way.
