The former site of the Front Committee of the Red Seventh Army — Kuixing Tower — is located in the government building of Wuzhuan Town, about 30 kilometers southwest of Donglan County. It was funded and constructed by local residents in the 32nd year of the Guangxu reign (1906), during the Qing Dynasty. This four-story, six-sided tower is built from a combination of wood and stone, with a base width of 7 meters and a height of 18 meters. In 1923, when Wei Baqun organized peasants to attack Donglan County, the battle headquarters was set up in this tower. Between 1926 and 1927, the Donglan County Revolutionary Committee and the Wuzhuan District Peasants’ Association had their offices here.

In the spring and summer of 1930, the Front Committee of the Seventh Army of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army was stationed in this tower. Deng Xiaoping, Secretary of the Front Committee, and Zhang Yunyi, Commander of the Army, worked and lived on the upper floors. During this period, Deng Xiaoping led the people of the Right River region in a vigorous land revolution movement centered in Donglan. In Wuzhuan’s Jiuzhou Tun village, he organized a training class for party cadres and leaders of the Red Seventh Army and the Soviet governments of Donglan and Fengshan counties. He personally wrote three teaching materials: “Policies and Slogans of the Land Revolution,” “Organization and Tasks of the Soviet,” and “Party Issues,” and personally gave lectures to the students. In his hometown of Dongli Village, Wei Baqun established a political night school for peasants and founded the first communal farming society in the Right River region — the Dongli Communal Farming Society. Deng Xiaoping, Zhang Yunyi, and Wei Baqun also held Front Committee military meetings in the tower, where the major decision to “recapture Baise” was made. On a regular basis, Deng Xiaoping, along with comrades such as Zhang Yunyi, Lei Jing Tian, Wei Baqun, Chen Hongtao, and Huang Daquan, frequently gathered in Kuixing Tower to hold important meetings and plan revolutionary strategies.

Kuixing Tower, the former site of the Front Committee of the Red Seventh Army, is one of the iconic revolutionary sites in the Right River region and an important place for revolutionary tradition and patriotic education. On February 26, 1963, the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region designated Kuixing Tower as a key cultural relics protection unit of the autonomous region. In 1995, it was recognized as a Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Patriotic Education Base.

Wuzhuan Town: Located in the southwestern part of Donglan County, Wuzhuan Town is the hometown of Wei Baqun, one of China’s earliest three great peasant movement leaders. It is the birthplace of the Right River Revolutionary Base Area and the place where proletarian revolutionaries such as Deng Xiaoping, Zhang Yunyi, and Wei Baqun fought and lived — making it a well-known revolutionary old base area. The town boasts beautiful scenery, picturesque rural landscapes, and numerous revolutionary sites and relics. Among them, Kuixing Tower (former site of the Front Committee of the Red Seventh Army of the CPC) and Lenin Cave (former site of the Guangxi Peasant Movement Training Institute) have been designated as key cultural relics protection units and patriotic education bases at the autonomous region level by the Guangxi government. They serve as places where future generations pay tribute to the revolutionary martyrs... More details about Wuzhuan Town++
