A key cultural relic protection unit of the autonomous region (designated as such by the People's Government of the Autonomous Region in May 2009). Located within the campus of Donglan County Labor Primary School at the foot of Hutou Mountain in Donglan County, Hechi City, Guangxi. Accessible via the Shuiren–Nanning Expressway, then turning onto National Highway 323 and the Jiuxu–Donglan Secondary Road. It is 120 kilometers from Hechi City. The site is a brick-and-wood, quadrangle-style courtyard building. Originally constructed in the 33rd year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1906), it was initially known as “Donglan Primary School.” In 1921, during the Republican era, it was renamed “Donglan Higher Primary School.” In its early years, senior generals and officials of the Communist Party and the People’s Liberation Army, including Wei Baqun, -, Qin Jian, Qin Shimian, and Qin Yingji, studied here. In 1926, when the Peasant Self-Defense Army attacked Donglan County and drove out the puppet county magistrate, the County Peasant Association used the building as its office. In December 1929, after the revolutionary victory led by Wei Baqun and others, the First Donglan County Congress of Workers, Peasants, and Soldiers was held here, establishing the “Soviet Government.” The school was renamed “Donglan County Labor Primary School,” with Bai Hanyun, a Communist Party member, serving as principal. From then on, the school admitted children of working people. In 1930, the headquarters of the Third Column of the Red Seventh Army was located here, and Red Seventh Army leaders Deng Xiaoping, Wei Baqun, and Chen Hongtao worked here. In April 1930, during Deng Xiaoping’s first visit to Donglan, he delivered a revolutionary speech in the schoolyard to all teachers, students, Soviet government staff, and over a thousand local residents. The main structure of the site is a quadrangle-style, brick-and-wood, tile-roofed courtyard. It features red brick walls, gray tiles, decorative eaves and windows, a hallway-style school gate, and two exquisitely crafted stone drums standing on either side. A brick-paved corridor runs through the central courtyard. The building has a total of 10 rooms, each measuring 12 meters in length, 8 meters in width, and 10 meters in height. Inside, there are exhibits showcasing the former offices of Deng Xiaoping and Wei Baqun, as well as a revolutionary tradition education room. The history of the Labor Primary School is displayed, along with photos and biographies of leaders such as - who once studied there. Donglan County Labor Primary School has also been listed as one of the “Top 100 Schools in China.”
