Shi Dakai, a native of Nabang Village in Naxiashanli (now Qishi Township, Guigang City), joined the anti-Qing revolutionary movement organized by Feng Yunsan in the late Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty, where he formed a God Worshipping Society army in the Qishi and Longshan areas. In September 1850, Shi Dakai pledged to rise against the Qing and arrived at Jintian. In 1851, he participated in the Jintian Uprising of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. He led the Left Army as its commander at the age of 20, and in the first year of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom's Xin Kai era (1851), he was titled the Wing King.

Sites and ruins related to Shi Dakai’s former residence include: the Shi Dakai Former Residence Site in Nabang Village, the martial arts training ground behind Nabang Village, the horse riding field at Kelan Mountain, the ancestral tomb of Shi Dakai, the Worshiping Square, Worshiping Mountain, the tombstone of Shi Dakai’s great-grandmother erected in the winter of the 20th year of the Daoguang era (discovered in 1933, currently housed in East Lake Park), and the Stele Record of Building the Ferryboat (discovered in 1979, now also stored in East Lake Park).

Shi Dakai (1831–1863), nicknamed Yada and also known as Shi Gandang, was a Hakka from Guixian (now Guigang) in Guangxi. He was a famed general of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and a well-known military strategist, politician, and martial arts master in modern China. Initially titled "Left Army Commander Wing King," during the Tianjing Incident, he was further honored as "Sacred Divine Lightning Commander-in-Chief Wing King," and was revered by both civilians and soldiers as the "Righteous King" (a title he humbly declined). Shi Dakai is one of the most legendary figures of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. At the age of 16, he was “summoned to rise,” commanded thousands of troops at 19, was made a king at 20, and was martyred at just 32. Qishi Township: Qishi Township is located in the northern part of Gangbei District, Guigang City, about 30 kilometers from the urban area of Guigang. It borders Guiping City to the east, Wuxuan County to the north, and Zhongli Township to the south. The township administers 11 administrative villages and 83 natural hamlets, with a total population of 26,000, of which 90% are Zhuang people, and 80% are migrants from the Daka Reservoir area. The township covers a total area of 142 square kilometers, including 150,000 mu of mountainous land and 28,000 mu of water area.
