Exploring the Cultural and Historical Charms of Dadaocheng, the Third Light Spot of the International Light Spots Project in Northern Taipei

Following the “Da’an Humanities Stroll Light Spot” and the “Datun Natural and Humanities Light Spot,” the third light spot of the “Northern Taipei International Light Spots Project,” the “Dadaocheng Humanities District,” has officially been unveiled. This year’s theme focuses on the humanities district. From now until September 6, eight themed booths—featuring locations such as Ye Hall, Beitou Cultural Artifacts Museum, and Haishan City God Temple—are set up in the Taipei Railway Station lobby. These showcase the unique features and essence of the three light spots, guiding visitors to experience the new cultural charm of Northern Taipei through these light spot booths.

The eight displayed light spot booths each have different themes, including “Ye Hall,” “Chiu Hui Library,” and “Chang Arts Workshop” from the Da’an Humanities Stroll Light Spot; “Beitou Cultural Artifacts Museum,” “Former Residence of Lin Yutang,” and “Beitou Park and Green Architecture” from the Datun Natural and Humanities Light Spot; and “Haishan City God Temple” and “Xiao Yi Ting & Min Yi Ting” from the Dadaocheng Humanities District Light Spot. During the exhibition period, there will also be a “Hand-Painted Street House Exhibition of Dadaocheng’s North, Central, and South Streets,” tea ceremony demonstrations, and special exhibition guided tours. Visitors can collect information related to the three major themes of the Northern Taipei International Light Spots, as well as details about light spot travelers, from the various booths.

The site also displays traveler’s booklets and pictorials in three languages—Chinese, English, and Japanese—suitable for both group and independent travelers, covering the “Dadaocheng Humanities District,” “Da’an Humanities Stroll,” and “Datun Natural and Humanities” themes. Independent travelers can find useful foldout brochures, postcards, CDs, light spot pamphlets, as well as special exhibition cool cards, traveler experience vouchers, and commemorative gift packs issued by seven major on-site exhibitions such as the Beitou Cultural Artifacts Museum.

In addition, the Northern Taipei International Light Spots Project has planned seven major special exhibitions to be launched progressively, including the “‘Sori Yanagi’ and ‘Taike Blue’ Special Exhibition” at Min Yi Ting, the “Traveler’s Special Exhibition” at Xiao Yi Ting, the “Exquisite Puppet Show Exhibition” at the Lin Liuxin Memorial Puppet Museum, the “Taiwan History Highlights Exhibition” at the Chiu Hui Library, the “Bird’s-Eye World – Yang Ye’s Hand-Drawn Beitou Maps” at the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, the “Tea Ware Exhibition Around the Tea Tasting Space” at Ye Hall, and the “Nectar of Humanity – Tea Culture Special Exhibition” at the Beitou Cultural Artifacts Museum.
