The East Gate Creek Intercepting Station treats sewage through the northern sewerage system, turning wastewater into clean water, which helps improve the water quality of East Gate Creek and Nanxi Creek. The 2019 Taoyuan Lantern Festival will continue to be held along the banks of Nanxi Creek. The Northern Water Resources Recycling Center has also been certified as an Environmental Education Facility by the Environmental Protection Administration, and the Chaoyang Water Language Educational Park has introduced AR (augmented reality) facilities for guided tours, advancing environmental education efforts.
The child-friendly painted walls at the East Gate Creek Intercepting Station have been dubbed by netizens as “Taoyuan’s Blue Print Art.”
The Northern Water Resources Center has not only received certification as an Environmental Education Facility but has also been recognized with the “Best Planning and Design Special Award” and the “Best Environmental Culture Quality Award” at the National Excellence in Construction Awards. This includes sedimentation tanks, aeration tanks, and biological decomposition systems, all built to the highest standards and incorporating the latest international technology.
The purpose of the intercepting station is to block pollution at its source. It can transport up to 34,000 tons of East Gate Creek water per day to the water resources recycling center for purification before releasing it back into Nanxi Creek, thereby accelerating the water purification process for both East Gate Creek and Nanxi Creek.
At the same time, to showcase culture and art and enhance public accessibility, the intercepting station’s facilities have been decorated with murals, earning it the nickname “Taoyuan Blue Print Art” among locals and making it a new Instagram hotspot for social media influencers.
