Affected by the outer circulation, the Central Weather Bureau has issued various weather alerts including heavy rain, torrential rain, and extremely torrential rain for many areas. On the 16th, there will be localized extremely torrential rain or super torrential rain in the mountainous areas of Pingtung, which requires particular attention to rainfall intensity.
The outer cloud bands and airflow of Typhoon Mangkhut still affect Taiwan.
Localized torrential rain or extremely torrential rain is expected in the mountainous areas of Taitung, while localized torrential rain is likely in Hualien, Yilan, Taitung plains, Pingtung plains, mountainous areas of New Taipei, mountainous areas of Nantou, mountainous areas of Kaohsiung, and the Hengchun Peninsula. There is also a chance of localized heavy rain in Lanyu, mountainous areas of Taoyuan, and mountainous areas of Taichung. Be cautious of landslides, falling rocks, debris flows, flash floods, and flooding in low-lying areas.
The Central Weather Bureau has issued a special weather alert, with many counties and cities across Taiwan experiencing torrential rain, heavy rain, and extremely torrential rain.
Those planning outdoor activities should have backup plans besides preparing for rainy weather. Absolutely avoid visiting dangerous areas. Also be vigilant about storm surges and sudden strong winds.
