Fighting for more play space for kids, communities across Taiwan have spontaneously launched initiatives to transform generic playground equipment. Tainan’s North District “Ledeyi Park” was originally just a small neighborhood park, with limited budget and no fancy play structures—except for Taiwan’s first community-participated, parent-child co-created climbing net. It’s the warmest NetClimb ever!

Ledeyi Park isn’t large, and at first glance looks like any ordinary park, featuring a large slide and a few rocking horses. It’s the kind of park easily overlooked—yet who would’ve thought it hides a free NetClimb play structure?

On both sides of the park are fitness equipment for adults and horizontal bars.

Rules for using the climbing net at Ledeyi Park: Each level accommodates a maximum of 8 people, shoes must be removed, and it’s recommended for ages 5–12. Our two-year-old Bao was also climbing like a champ (we stayed right beside the net the whole time)!

Everyone hopes to have a unique playground built right next to their home, but few are willing to get involved. The transformation of North District’s Ledeyi Park really moved me. With limited neighborhood park budgets, the residents showed amazing cohesion and drive. From voting on suitable activity equipment, sourcing budgets and resources, to involving everyone in the rope-weaving process—"Together, anything is possible!" That’s my deepest impression of North District’s Ledeyi Park.

The NetClimb was hand-woven by a team and custom-designed for the activity space at North District’s Ledeyi Park. This one-of-a-kind woven net toy lets you climb or crawl however you like!

The net wobbles as you move, so walking on it takes some skill. It’s ideal for children with developed muscle strength. Our little Bao, being younger, was both excited and cautious her first time on the climbing net. She started by crawling and gradually found the fun.

Kids always keep you amazed. We thought she’d only stroll around the first level, but she ended up climbing all the way to the second floor. Every time we visit these special parks, we can’t help but marvel at the endless potential of children!

There’s a hole designed in a way that reminds you of whack-a-mole—makes you want to grab a mallet and go for it!

North District’s Ledeyi Park may not have the most impressive or unique facilities among specialty parks, but it’s definitely the warmest one. It’s also the first park in Tainan to undergo such a change. North District’s Ledeyi Park isn’t very large, so it’s not ideal for pairing with other attractions for a one-day Tainan trip. But it’s close to Tainan’s bustling West Central District. Alternatively, you could visit Anping’s hidden parent-child attraction—the Disaster Prevention Education Center—or take a stroll, play in the water, and build sandcastles at Yiguang Island.
