Luo Ergang was born in Guigang, Guangxi. He was a renowned Chinese historian, philologist, and expert on the military system of the late Qing Dynasty. In his lifetime, he served as a first-class researcher at the Institute of Modern History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and as a professor at Nanjing University, and was a master-level scholar of international renown in contemporary China. To commemorate Mr. Luo Ergang and promote his spirit, the Guigang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government decided to build the Luo Ergang Memorial Hall at the Guigang Senior High School—where Mr. Luo once studied and worked—and construction began on June 15 this year. The building covers an area of approximately 1,000 square meters. Once opened, the memorial hall will serve as an important base for patriotic education and moral development among minors in Guigang.
