Yishan

Yishan is located in Shaqiao Township and was where Huan Yi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty studied and practiced martial arts. Huan Yi was the leading general of the Eastern Jin during the historic Battle of Fei River, where a weaker force triumphed over a stronger one. After his victory, he retired from public life and chose to live in seclusion on Yishan. The temple on the mountain is called Yishan Temple, which flourished during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The temple has three courtyards and covers an area of 5,000 square meters. The large plaque on the stone temple gate inscribed with “Jingde Chan Temple” was written by Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty. The ancient Arhat Pavilion in the temple has lush, umbrella-like canopies. Many poets and scholars have visited here to reflect on the past.
