He Long (1896–1969), a great proletarian revolutionary and military strategist, was one of the founders and key leaders of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, as well as a marshal of the People’s Republic of China. His original name was He Wenchang, with the courtesy name Yunqing. He was from Sangzhi, Hunan. Over the course of more than half a century of revolutionary struggle, he made significant contributions to China’s old democratic revolution, new democratic revolution, socialist revolution, and construction, establishing immortal achievements.
