2016 Wuling Cherry Blossom Season Launch: Complete Guide to Transportation and Reservations

The annual spring tourism highlight, the Wuling Farm Cherry Blossom Season, is expected to officially kick off on February 6 and run through February 22 — a total of 17 days, including the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday. To ensure visitors heading up the mountain to enjoy the cherry blossoms can do so in a safe and comfortable driving environment and experience high-quality cherry blossom viewing, as in previous years, the Directorate General of Highways has once again collaborated with relevant agencies to jointly plan four major traffic management measures: “on-site visitor capacity control, road traffic regulation, group reservation entry, and public transportation shuttle services.”

◎ On-Site Visitor Capacity Control

During the Cherry Blossom Season, Wuling Farm enforces a daily visitor capacity limit of 6,000 people, including 1,800 overnight guests and 4,200 day-trippers. The day-trippers are further divided into 1,000 group ticket holders and 3,200 individual passengers using public transport. Overnight guests are permitted entry only with a vehicle pass issued by Wuling Farm. Group visitors must make reservations via Yilan County Government’s reservation platform and exchange for passes according to their registered time slots. Individual passengers using public transport can enter by purchasing tickets through the ticketing channels provided by Kuo-Kuang Motor Transport and Fengyuan Bus.

◎ Group Reservation Entry

In response to travel demand, during the 2016 (105th year of the Republic of China) Cherry Blossom Season, 20 Type A (large) tour buses and 10 Type B (medium) tour buses are permitted entry per day, and they must first register via the reservation platform established by Yilan County Government.The reservation platform opens for bookings starting at midnight on January 11, 2016.After completing registration, payment for tickets and other fees must be made to the designated Wuling Farm account within five days. Those who fail to pay will have their reservations canceled, while successful payments will generate a reservation number. Groups must present their reservation number at the designated time on the day of entry to the coach inspection and control point (Jiuliao Visitor Service Center, Datong Township, Taiwan Route 7) to verify documents and exchange for passes. The passes must then be affixed to the right side window of the coach for inspection by Wuling Farm entrance staff.

◎ Public Transport Shuttle Services

In line with Wuling Farm’s control plan and to encourage the use of public transportation, six shuttle routes have been planned: 【Taipei Main Station – Wuling Farm】, 【Taipei City Hall Bus Station – Wuling Farm】, 【Yilan Bus Station – Wuling Farm】, 【Sanxing Township Sports Complex – Wuling Farm】, 【Datong Township Jiuliao Visitor Service Center – Wuling Farm】, and 【Lishan – Wuling Farm】.
