Dragon Mark Victory Gate

The gate beside the Guest-Seeing Pavilion was originally the main entrance to Furong Tower. Built in the late Qing Dynasty, it is called Dragon Mark Victory Gate, also known as the "Three Wonders Gate."

The Dragon Mark Victory Gate is 12 meters high and 7 meters wide, featuring a large clay sculpture of Wang Shao-bo seeing off a guest at its center, with seasonal scenes of spring, summer, autumn, and winter on either side. The sculptures were made using the ancient “stacked modeling” technique, primarily from tung oil, lime, and glutinous rice. These exquisitely crafted, lifelike clay works are extremely rare in the world, representing the first wonder. What’s even more astonishing is that although the gate is over three zhang (approximately 10 meters) tall, it leans more than two chi (approximately 0.66 meters) toward the river yet remains standing—this is the second wonder. According to experts, its degree of inclination exceeds that of Italy’s Leaning Tower of Pisa. At the center of the lintel is a compass with south at the top and north at the bottom, the reverse of what is commonly seen—why this is so remains an enduring mystery, marking the third wonder. The Dragon Mark Victory Gate is an iconic landmark of Qianyang Ancient City. In ancient times, when boats approached this gate, travelers knew they had arrived at Qianyang County.

Qiancheng Town: Located in the southwest of Hongjiang City, Qiancheng Town is now the seat of the new Hongjiang municipal government and the administrative center. Qiancheng has a long history—as early as the beginning of the Western Han Dynasty when the county was established until 1949, it served as the county seat.
