Brothel (Shaoxing Troupe)
The Brothel (Shaoxing Troupe) was built in the late Xianfeng era of the Qing Dynasty (1860). It is a wooden post-and-lintel structure enclosed by “firewalls” on all sides. The building features a single-eave, double-story design with two courtyards and three floors. Its corridors are enclosed, spaces are thoughtfully divided, and it offers high concealment. The courtyards provide good ventilation and lighting. The overall architectural form bears distinct industry-specific characteristics. The structure is compactly and appropriately laid out, scientifically and rationally designed. It serves as an important physical resource for studying the architectural art of southern industry-related buildings, and holds significant artistic and historical value.
The primary protected area extends 20 meters outward from the foundation walls in all directions. The construction control zone begins 30 meters beyond the outer edge of the primary protected area in all directions.
