The Site of the Western Hunan Snow Mountain Campaign — Former Site of the Army Mechanized School is located in Shawan Township, Hongjiang City, Huaihua, dating back to 1940.

In 2019, the Site of the Western Hunan Snow Mountain Campaign — Former Site of the Army Mechanized School was approved as part of the tenth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units in Hunan Province.

Shawan Township: Shawan Township is situated in the central-southern part of Hongjiang City, along both banks of the Yuan River. The township government is located 40 kilometers from Qiancheng Town, the seat of the city government. It borders Shuping Township to the east, Shendu Miao Ethnic Township and the Hongjiang Administrative Region to the south, Tuxi Township to the west, and Taiping and Xiazhou townships to the north. The township government is based in Shawan Village and administers 14 villages: Shawan, Shixiu, Xikou, Yueliang, Guanghua, Dutian, Yingtaoxi, Jiankang, Zhaotou, Pingyuan, Laowubei, Pingyang, Wengtian, and Shengziyan. These include 164 villager groups and one neighborhood committee.
