Jiulongyuan Park

Located south of Jiulong Bridge outside the east gate of the ancient city of Jingzhou in Hubei Province, it is a cultural leisure square integrating recreation, entertainment, and sightseeing, covering an area of 326,000 square meters. The main structures of the park are the Jiulongyuan Dragon Boat Racing Field and the statue of Qu Yuan. The Jiulongyuan Dragon Boat Racing Field stretches 1,100 meters from north (Jiulong Bridge) to south (Qu Yuan Peninsula). The racing field features 2,600 meters of granite railings on both the east and west banks, and 3,000 meters of standard grandstands. The venue can accommodate hundreds of thousands of spectators. Since 2000, the China Jingzhou International Dragon Boat Festival has been held here every May. The statue of Qu Yuan stands on Qu Yuan Peninsula at the southern end of the dragon boat racing field, reaching a height of 8.83 meters. Qu Yuan was a high-ranking official of the Chu Kingdom, one of China’s greatest patriotic poets in history, and one of the world’s four great cultural figures. Qu Yuan is the pride of Jingzhou in the Chu region and a source of pride for the Chinese nation. His patriotism and immortal charisma continue to serve as a spiritual driving force for the people of Jingzhou to strive forward. Jiulongyuan Park lies to the west of the ancient city of Jingzhou, faces the statue of Qu Yuan to the south, and borders Phoenix Square to the north. It is a large-scale public leisure and recreational venue with beautiful surroundings, profound cultural heritage, and exceptional conditions.
