The Golden Phoenix Soaring

The city emblem of Jingzhou, "The Golden Phoenix Soaring," is located outside the eastern gate of Jingzhou City, standing to the southeast of Jiulong Bridge. It was unveiled on May 1, 1989, covering an area of 2,500 square meters and reaching a total height of 12.5 meters. The base is inlaid with red marble, surrounded by two tiers of nine stone steps each at the bottom, adorned with stone railings. Its height is 4 meters. The main sculpture features a graceful golden phoenix soaring above radiant sunlight enveloped by colorful clouds. Forged from stainless steel, the phoenix stands 8.5 meters tall. It serves as the city symbol of the historic Jiangling.

The design of "The Golden Phoenix Soaring" is exquisitely imaginative and rich in romanticism. It vividly embodies the ancient Chu people's reverence for the phoenix and fire, with the phoenix as their totem, regarded as the ultimate symbol of beauty and virtue. The sculpture not only highlights the historical roots of the ancient Chu culture in Jiangling but also reflects the city’s ambitious spirit of rising and revitalizing the nation. Against the backdrop of blue skies, white clouds, and the ancient city, the emblem shines brilliantly, adding new charm and splendor to the picturesque East Gate scenic area.
