Jingzhou South Gate Catholic Church is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hubei Province.

Jingzhou South Gate Catholic Church

Located on Dongdi Street outside the South Gate of Jingzhou City in Jingzhou, it includes the main church hall and a monastery. The main church hall was built in the 31st year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1905), facing north. Its layout is approximately regular octagonal, with Western-style four-story tower pavilions on both sides of the facade, topped with crosses. The building is 15.6 meters wide in the front and 41.21 meters deep. The monastery was built in the 32nd year of the Guangxu reign (1906), featuring a layout in the shape of the Chinese character 品 (pin), covering an area of about 1,933 square meters. It consists of three main structures: the monastery building, the Wencui Primary School building, and the chapel. This church is the only surviving European-style building in the Jingzhou area and plays an important role in the study of the spread and development of Western architectural styles in the Jianghan Plain region.
