Shao Kiln Site

The Shao Kiln Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Henan Province.

The Shao Kiln Site stretches 700 meters from east to west and 240 meters from north to south. The terrain is terraced, sloping from west to east, with approximately 7-meter-high cliffs on the southeast and north sides. The site is relatively well-preserved and roughly rectangular in shape. The cultural layer reaches a depth of 6 meters, and artifacts are visible throughout the exposed strata and ground surface, mainly including stone tools, pottery, and a small number of bone tools. Stone tools include stone axes, stone spades, and stone grinding rods; pottery includes red clay, brown clay, gray clay, red-slip gray clay, and painted pottery, with vessel types such as small-mouthed pointed-bottom bottles, painted pottery basins, bowls, perforated beans, and cups; bone tools include spears and awls. Based on unearthed samples, it is believed to be a cultural site dating from the Yangshao period to the Nongshan period.
