Sanmenxia

Sanmenxia: A famous canyon in the middle reaches of the Yellow River. It is located between Sanmenxia City in Henan Province and Pinglu County in Shanxi Province. In ancient times, rocky islands in the riverbed divided the waterway into three turbulent streams: the northern one was called "Renmen" (Human Gate), the middle one "Shenmen" (Spirit Gate), and the southern one "Guimen" (Ghost Gate), hence the name.
