Chiayi Bike Carnival: Win NT$80,000 Prize with Creative Costumes

 

Entering its third year, the Dapu Bike Madness event is set to take place on December 15–16 at Dapu Lakeside Park in Chiayi County. The event will not only invite enthusiasts of uniquely shaped bikes to join in the fun, featuring Taiwan’s only—and adorable—miniature versions of the Volkswagen T1 and Mazda K36 bikes, but also an amazingly tall Merida 150 cm high-rise bike, and the romantic favorite: the ding-dong tricycle. Moreover, as long as participants show their creativity by dressing up themselves and their bikes, they could win prizes such as NT$80,000 in cash or bicycles.

In addition to a series of biking activities, the event also features a “Silent Disco,” “How to Ride a Bike for Dummies,” “Creative Bike Customization,” “Mini Drone Racing,” and more. Among them, the “Bike Parade” will retell local historical tales, with local elders sharing legends about the area by the lakeside, while children can guess what the whimsical shapes and decorations on the bikes represent. There will also be live performances by local artists under the theme of “Riding with Joy.”

Liao Yuan-long, director of the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration, said that Route 3 in the Dapu area runs alongside the Zengwen Reservoir, where the scenic lake and mountain views paired with fresh, pleasant air make it one of the most popular biking routes in central and southern Taiwan.It has further been developed into the Dapu Bike Madness event, making it the only creative bike carnival in the country. The “Fun with Siraya – Dapu Bike Madness” event is now open for registration.
