Kaohsiung has a new spot for nighttime tourism. The Kaohsiung City Government has carried out large-scale renovations of the Jinshi Lake Scenic Area, including the construction of a new Jinshi Bridge, the revitalization of wooden boardwalks, and the development of lakeside plazas on both the east and west sides. These distinctive features were completed in November. The newly built Jinshi Bridge dazzles with vibrant lighting at night, while the wooden boardwalk features a three-dimensional water-spraying golden lion installation, along with reshaped landscapes and renovated lakeside plazas that showcase a brand-new look for Jinshi Lake. These enhancements provide local residents and visitors with a safer and more well-rounded leisure destination.

Jinshi Lake Scenic Area is a popular spot for Kaohsiung residents to exercise, hike, walk, worship, and enjoy leisure activities on holidays. This year, due to the surge in Kaohsiung tourism, visitor numbers have increased by 49%. To ensure safer usage for the public and enhance the charm of Jinshi Lake, the Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau has focused on renovating Jinshi Bridge as the main project. Drawing inspiration from the area’s rich religious heritage, they’ve recreated the bridge as a scenic white arch resembling a long rainbow. This pedestrian and bicycle-only bridge not only connects entries and exits to the scenic area but also features a stunning central waterfall, accompanied by dynamic light color changes at night. It presents a different ambiance during the day and night.

The newly built Jinshi Bridge is designed as a scenic bridge with separate lanes for bicycles and pedestrians. It connects to both Clear Lake and Lotus Pond, aiming to become part of North Kaohsiung’s nighttime tourism golden triangle. Visitors are welcome to cycle leisurely through North Kaohsiung, experience the Dragon and Tiger Towers at Lotus Pond, immerse themselves in the forest aromatherapy of Clear Lake, and enjoy the relaxing nighttime atmosphere blending traditional religious elements with innovative features on Jinshi Bridge.The city’s Tourism Bureau plans to open the bridge to the public starting November 26, 2014, and will step up enforcement against car and motorcycle entry until December 25 of the same year. Afterward, violators will be dealt with according to the “Kaohsiung City Park Management Self-Governance Ordinance” to ensure a high-quality and safe recreational space for both tourists and residents.
