Creative bikes, flying parachute races, and fishing contests—have fun in Dapu in December

The annual “Fun in Siraya – Dapu Bike Madness” event will take place on December 15–16 at Hubin Park in Dapu Township, Chiayi County, calling on cyclists across Taiwan to showcase themselves and their bikes, with a chance to take home a total of NT$80,000 in prize money or bicycles and other great gifts. Early bird registration is now open for special deals—the first 50 registered teams will receive four vitality vouchers worth a total of over NT$1,200 from the Lushui Shugou Vitality Center (four vouchers per team, each valued at NT$330).

At the event site, there will be tax bike performances, demonstrations of how to ride a unicycle skillfully, paragliding, model airplane shows, fish-catching competitions, art and photography activities, and more. The Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology’s research and development team will also bring their impressive inventions to the site, while the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration will lead visitors on guided tours. There will also be opportunities to get up close with wild animals, as well as DIY activities with wood from the river, and live performances by Dapu Township’s self-formed band, the “Exclamation Mark Band.” Registration for the Dapu Bike Madness event is now open. Liao Yuanlong, head of the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration, said that Section 3 of Provincial Highway 3 in Dapu can be considered the backyard of the Siraya National Scenic Area. Along the way, it follows the Zengwen Reservoir, with lake and mountain views accompanied by fresh and pleasant air, making it one of the most popular cycling routes in central and southern Taiwan. The administration and Dapu Township Office have planned the existing cycling routes into the Dapu Bike Madness event, creating the only creative bike carnival in the country. In addition, on December 15, there will be a “How to Play in Dapu” mobile storytelling vehicle, where locals will take everyone to see the legendary Red Garden, Xie Gongyuan, and Baima Pavilion, as well as make their own driftwood ornaments and watch live performances by Dapu Township’s self-formed band, the “Exclamation Mark Band.” Registration for the Dapu Bike Madness event is now open.
