Chiayi Bike Carnival: Win NT$80,000 Prize in Creative Costume Contest

Now in its third year, the Dapu Bike Madness event is set to take place on December 15–16 at Dapu Lakeside Park in Chiayi County. The event will not only invite enthusiasts of uniquely shaped bikes to join in the fun but also feature Taiwan’s only adorable mini versions of the Volkswagen T1 and Mazda K36 bikes, as well as the amazingly tall Merida 150cm high-wheel bike and the classic couples’ favorite—tinkle-tinkle tricycle. Additionally, participants who showcase creative costumes for themselves and their bikes can win prizes including NT$80,000 in cash or bicycles.

During the event period, in addition to a series of biking activities, other programs include a tax and smoke-free concert, cycling storytelling tours, cycling creativity workshops, flying saucer mini games, and fishing competitions. Among them, the cycling storytelling tour will present local legends, allowing visitors to experience the wisdom and humor of villagers through storytelling around bonfires. There will also be performances of traditional operas and folk dances, as well as live demonstrations of fishing techniques in the scenic area.

Liao Yuan-long, Director of the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration, said that Route 3 in the Dapu area runs along the Zengwen Reservoir, where the beautiful lakeside scenery and fresh air make it one of the most popular biking routes in central and southern Taiwan.It has been further developed into the Dapu Bike Madness eventand has become Taiwan’s only creative bike carnival. The “Fun at Siraya – Dapu Bike Madness” event is now open for registration.
