Tangxiyuan Scenic Area

The Tangxiyuan Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

The Tangxiyuan Scenic Area is located in Xiping County, Zhumadian City, Henan Province, covering a total area of 38 square kilometers with a forest coverage rate of over 95%. It is divided into four touring zones: Tangxi Lake, Tangxi Gorge, Zhizhu Mountain, and Paoma Ridge. Blending breathtaking natural scenery with profound Yanhuang culture, it is regarded as the source of ancestors, the origin of swords, and the source of water.

Warring States Iron Smelting Furnace — Located on the shore of Tangxi Lake, it is hailed by contemporary authoritative metallurgy experts as the “Number One Furnace under Heaven,” dating back over 2,400 years. The historical saying “Of all ancient swords, those of Han were the most numerous” originates here, as all nine famous ancient swords were produced in this region. Cicada Valley — In Tangxi Gorge, “the chirping of cicadas fills the valley for ten miles.” The sound of cicadas in March is a rare and peculiar natural phenomenon. Natural Fortress — The Funiu peculiar rocks are naturally formed, stretching over ten kilometers from east to west, exhibiting the majestic grandeur of the Taihang Mountains and leaving visitors in awe. Ancestor Peak — The embodiment of the primordial ancestor Puhuang, lying on his back on the northern peak of Zhizhu Mountain, stretches over 500 meters from east to west, with just the head alone measuring 60 meters. His towering nose, upright chest, fine facial details, even the strands of long beard and thick, arched eyebrows are all vividly discernible.

Stepping into this pristine land of Tangxiyuan, climb the heavenly ladder, explore ancient caves; row along the waters of Tangxi, stroll leisurely through the Smelting Furnace City; watch butterflies dance by Butterfly Spring, play by the clear stream in front of the Water Curtain Cave, gaze up at eagles soaring, and look down at crabs and shrimp playing; admire cascading waterfalls and springs, savor the fragrance of orchids in the quiet valley; feast your eyes on blooming mountain flowers and towering ancient trees; enjoy the vibrant autumn foliage, find serenity by the bamboo grove stream, beat the heavenly drums on Paoma Ridge, and express your deepest sentiments before the Sword-Trying Stone...

The Tangxiyuan Scenic Area enjoys convenient transportation. The Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, and National Highway 107 run through the entirety of Xiping County. Provincial Highway Gaolan and County Road Xijiu lead directly to the scenic area. After years of vigorous development, the tourism facilities of Tangxiyuan Scenic Area have become increasingly complete, warmly welcoming visitors from all directions.
