Zhaoping County is located in eastern Guangxi, along the middle reaches of the Gui River. With a population of 392,000, the county governs 7 towns and 5 townships, spanning an area of 3,273 square kilometers. It is a mountainous agricultural county characterized by “nine parts mountains, half part water, and half part fields.” Zhaoping County boasts abundant forest resources, with a forested area of 262,000 hectares and a forest coverage rate of 80.7%, and a greening rate of 98.2%. The region features undulating peaks, murmuring springs, and misty surroundings. It lies within a subtropical monsoon climate zone, with an average annual temperature of 19.8°C, average annual rainfall of 2,046 millimeters, fertile soil with a pH value of 4.5–6.5, and is known for producing a wide range of agricultural products such as tea, Huangyao fermented soybeans, Shatian pomelos, silkworm cocoons, sun-cured tobacco, star anise, honey, tea seed oil, rosin, green plums, and aquatic products. Many of these products are exported to Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia, Europe, and America. The unique geographical location and superior climatic conditions provide ideal natural advantages for developing high-quality tea in Zhaoping. The tea harvest season lasts 8 to 10 months per year, with early spring tea being picked 20 to 30 days earlier than in the Yangtze River Basin tea regions, and one month earlier than in the main production areas of East and Central China. This gives Zhaoping a distinct advantage in producing early spring premium teas, pollution-free, green, and organic teas. Zhaoping County is recognized as one of the most ecologically suitable areas for tea production in China, a national ecological agriculture demonstration county, a leading green tea production area in Guangxi, and a demonstration county for pollution-free tea in Guangxi.
