Tongshan Lake Forest Park: This provincial-level Tongshan Lake Forest Park is situated on the northern foothills of Tongshan Mountain, approximately 20 kilometers east of Biyang County, by the shores of Tongshan Lake. It is located at the boundary edge of the Han River basin and is a typical transitional area from subtropical to warm temperate zones. The climate here is mild, with clearly defined seasons and rich species diversity. Provincial Highway 411 and expressways skirt the northern edge heading east, while the Biyang Railway runs across the park, making transportation extremely convenient.

The park features majestic, rugged, steep, and precipitous mountain formations that strikingly resemble various living creatures, each named accordingly—such as Camel Mountain, Phoenix Mountain, and Twin Dragons Playing with a Pearl. Numerous stone fortress walls stand as historical witnesses. Located in the eastern part of the park, Yihé Fort was the gathering place for the Righteous Harmony Society during the late Qing Dynasty, while Chuǎngwáng Fort served as the command post for Li Zicheng’s resistance against oppression during the late Ming Dynasty. The clear, deep-blue waters of Tongshan Lake embrace the northern side of the park. The vast lake surface ripples with blue waves, with crisscrossing inlets along the lakeshore and the rustling of pine waves. Mountains cradle the water, and the lake reflects the mountains—making the mountains more beautiful because of the water, and the water clearer because of the mountains. Boating through the area offers the sensation of “mountain upon mountain, with sudden glimpses of blooming flowers.” The ancient, robust trees in the park stand tall and dense, with twisted branches and graceful postures. In spring, all plants turn green and flowers bloom, filling the air with fragrance as bees and butterflies flit about. In summer, the overlapping green mountains echo with murmuring streams. In autumn, forests are painted in layers of color, presenting the spectacular view of “frost-kissed leaves redder than February flowers.” In winter, the landscape is draped in silvery white, with ice hanging from cliffs, creating an exceptionally enchanting scene. Towering giant rocks are scattered among the peaks, rising abruptly and jutting out into the sky with extraordinary momentum and naturally exquisite shapes—such as Turtle Rock, Pot Rock, Hollow Rock, Dagger Rock, and Monkey-Tiger Rock. Beneath these massive rocks lie caves inhabited by various animals, forming a remarkable spectacle. Together, the mountains, water, trees, and rocks create the unique and magnificent landscape of Tongshan Lake Forest Park.

Tongshan Township: Tongshan Township is located 30 kilometers east of Biyang County. It borders Queshan County to the east, Tongbai County to the south, and connects with Laohé and Banqiáo in Yicheng District to the north. The area features typical mountainous and hilly terrain and is a well-known revolutionary base. It is named after the provincial-level scenic spot, Tongshan Mountain.
