Xingzhuang Hougang Site

The Xingzhuang Hougang Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the county level by Wuyang County.

Xingzhuang Site

The site is located on Hougang, Xingzhuang Village, Taiwei Township, covering a total area of approximately 50,000 square meters. It lies on a river terrace, with its northern edge adjacent to the former riverbed, commonly called Rǔnǎng Jiāng (Rǔyáng Jiāng), believed to be the ancient path of the Ru River. The Qing Dynasty village wall of Xingzhuang cuts across the site from east to west, and in the exposed sections, large quantities of red-fired soil, basket-patterned pottery fragments, clamshell-tempered pottery, and clay-based red pottery have been found, along with finely crafted perforated stone shovels, stone axes, stone knives, diamond-shaped stone arrowheads. In the western part of the site, Warring States period roof tiles have also been discovered. Based on the characteristics of the unearthed artifacts, the site is considered to have been a human settlement from the late Neolithic Age to the Warring States Period. It is a cultural heritage site protected at the county level.
