Beiwudu Pawnshop is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Henan Province.

Beiwudu Pawnshop (including Tianye Temple)

Beiwudu Pawnshop is located on East Street in Beiwudu Town, approximately 1.5 kilometers from the Jiahu Site in Wuyang. It was first built in the seventh year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty. The structure faces west and is a two-courtyard, four-sided compound with a width of five bays. Its depth includes an entrance corridor (serving as the main gate), a middle courtyard, and a main hall. Both the entrance corridor and the middle courtyard are two-story buildings. There are wing rooms in the front and rear courtyards, and behind the main hall lies the pawnshop’s rear garden. The total area is about 1,500 square meters. According to experts from the National Cultural Heritage Administration, such a well-preserved pawnshop is extremely rare nationwide. It is suitable for establishing a museum that reflects the socioeconomic conditions of the time. Proposed investment projects mainly include restoring nine north and south wing rooms along with the rear garden, renovating the existing buildings, and restoring ancient pawnshop facilities.
