Leitaizi Site

The Leitaizi Site is a protected cultural heritage site of Henan Province.

The Leitaizi Site is located about 16 kilometers northwest of Luoshan County in Henan Province. In the autumn of 1991, to explore the ancient cultural features of the Huai River basin and their interrelationships with neighboring cultures, the Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and others conducted excavations at the site, covering an area of 75 square meters. Its cultural remains can be divided into three phases, dating approximately to the late Yangshao Culture, the middle to late Longshan Culture, and the late Shang to early Western Zhou Dynasty.

Period: Neolithic Age – Western Zhou Dynasty

Location: Sanhe Village, Gaodian Township, Luoshan County

Gaodian Township: A township under the jurisdiction of Luoshan County. Established as the Gaodian Central Township in 1956, reorganized as a commune in 1961, and officially became a township in 1983. It is located in the northwest part of the county, 15 kilometers from the county seat, at the triangular junction of the Shi and Huai rivers. Covering an area of 93.1 square kilometers with a population of 38,000, the township administers 12 village committees: Gaodian, Yanhe, Wangwan, Hunan, Sihuai, Gaodao, Yufan, Sanhe, Zhongxin, Zhanghe, Chentang, and Gaomiao. The main agricultural products include rice, wheat, oil crops, and cotton, along with oil chestnuts, watermelons, lotus roots, and peanuts.
