Former Site of the Red Twenty-Eighth Army Headquarters — Qinglian

Qinglian is situated in a mountain hollow within Jilong Mountain, in Tiepu Township, and is the former site of the Red Twenty-Eighth Army Headquarters. On November 11, 1934, the Hubei-Henan-Anhui Provincial Committee held a meeting at Huashanzhai in Guangshan County, deciding that the Red Twenty-Fifth Army would carry out a strategic transfer, and that after the Red Twenty-Fifth Army left, the struggle in the Hubei-Henan-Anhui base area would be led by Gao Jingting, a member of the Hubei-Henan-Anhui Provincial Committee Standing Committee and Secretary of the Northwest Anhui District Committee, who was still in western Anhui. A portion of the armed forces would remain to rebuild the Red Twenty-Eighth Army. After the Red Twenty-Fifth Army set out from Hejiachong on November 16, Fang Yongle was left behind to locate Gao Jingting and convey the spirit of the Huashanzhai meeting. On February 1, 1935, Fang Yongle and Xu Jicheng led the Luoshan Independent Regiment to meet with Gao Jingting in western Anhui and conveyed the instructions of the Provincial Committee. On the night of February 3, Gao Jingting presided over a meeting at Liangting’ao in Taihu County, merging the Luoshan Independent Regiment and the Red 218th Regiment to re-establish the Red Twenty-Eighth Army. The former site of the Red Twenty-Eighth Army currently has 16 surviving houses, which are earthen-walled, tiled-roofed structures with an ordinary civilian architectural style. It was listed as a county-level cultural relic protection unit in 1986, a provincial-level one in 2000, and designated as a municipal-level patriotic education base in 2004.

Former Site of the Red Twenty-Fifth Army Headquarters — He Family Ancestral Hall

In November 1934, before the Red Twenty-Fifth Army embarked on the Long March, its headquarters was stationed at the He Family Ancestral Hall. The He Family Ancestral Hall is a structure built in the early Ming Dynasty, covering an area of 400 square meters with 16 rooms in total. It consists of a front section, rear section, and east and west wing rooms, all featuring blue brick and tiled roofs in a solemn and classic architectural style. In November 1996, it was approved by the State Council as a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit, and a commemorative stele was erected, with inscriptions by Xu Xiangqian, Cheng Zihua, Guo Shushen, Liu Zhen, and others. In 2004, the He Family Ancestral Hall was renovated into the Red Twenty-Fifth Army Memorial Hall. The layout follows the original headquarters setup: the front section serves as the guard room, the rear section as the staff office, and the east and west wing rooms were converted into the political department and meeting rooms. Each area displays items such as weapons, office supplies, and personal belongings used by the Red Twenty-Fifth Army soldiers, recreating the atmosphere of the time.
