Dongmao Site

The Dongmao Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Chicheng County.

The Dongmao Site dates back to the late Paleolithic Age and is located approximately 100 meters northwest of Dongmao Village, Dongmao Town, Chicheng County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province.

On April 14, 2011, the Dongmao Site was designated as part of the second batch of county-level cultural heritage protection units in Chicheng County.

Protected area and construction control zone: with the edge of the site as the baseline, extending 20 meters outward to the east, south, west, and north.

Dongmao Town: Located in the southeastern part of Chicheng County, Dongmao Town is 65 kilometers from the county seat. It borders Huairou District of Beijing to the east, Ciyingzi Township to the west, Yanqing County of Beijing to the south, and Fengning County to the north, situated at the junction of four counties. Its coordinates are 40°50′ north latitude and 116°15′ east longitude. The town government is located in Dongmao Village, which sits at an elevation of 625 meters. The average elevation of the entire town is 729 meters, making it the lowest in elevation among all towns in the county. The annual average temperature is 7°C, with a frost-free period of 132 days, placing it in a mid-temperate, semi-humid monsoon climate zone.
