Ji'an Lying-in-Governance Pavilion

Ji'an Lying-in-Governance Pavilion is a cultural tourism attraction.

Ji'an Lying-in-Governance Pavilion is located within the compound of the county guesthouse and was built to commemorate Ji An, the governor of Huaiyang during the Han Dynasty.

The "Records of the Grand Historian: Biographies of Ji and Zheng" states: "He was then summoned and appointed as governor of Huaiyang. Ji An bowed in thanks but declined to accept the seal... The Emperor said: 'I am now summoning you. However, the officials and people of Huaiyang do not get along well. I simply need your moral authority to govern while lying down.' Ji An then took his leave... Ji An governed the commandery as before, and governance in Huaiyang became clean... He passed away after seven years." Later generations built a five-bay pavilion here in memory of this upright and renowned official, hanging a plaque inscribed with "Lying-in-Governance Pavilion." The original structure no longer exists. The "Kaifeng Prefecture Records" state: "The tomb is forty li east of Chenzhou." Today, forty li northeast of the county town lies Ji's Tomb, which is the grave of Ji An.
