Huilong Chan Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Huilong Chan Temple was first built during the Zhengtong era of the Ming Dynasty and was originally named Huilong Guan (Huilong Taoist Temple). By the Ming Dynasty, it had already taken initial shape. Wang Tianjing, a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations of the Ming Dynasty, once wrote a poem as evidence: “An ancient riverside temple known as lofty mound, its towering presence shades even the oxen’s brow. To the east lies the majestic Huilong Guan, firmly guarding the southwestern Phoenix Head.” It suffered severe damage during the Republican era and was almost completely destroyed by the Cultural Revolution. In September 1995, Buddhist activities were resumed. In the autumn of 1997, through fundraising by monks and lay Buddhists, the Hall of Heavenly Kings was constructed. In the spring of 2004, lay Buddhist Fan Shanghai, urgently responding to the temple’s needs and out of personal compassion, invested heavily to successively build the Mahavira Hall, side halls, east-west corridors, and the mountain gate. Since then, Huilong Temple has become a major Buddhist activity site in eastern Henan. The restored temple features an architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties. The first abbot of the temple was Venerable Master Zhan Yu.
