Jiangtai Site

The Jiangtai Site is located 500 meters south of Caulou Village, Lincai Township, northeast of the county seat. It is a cultural heritage site from the Dawenkou and Longshan periods and was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit in 1978. The site consists of gray soil accumulations, stands 6 meters high, and covers an area of 2,444 square meters. A large number of pottery, stone, and bone artifacts have been discovered, among which identifiable items include duck-billed tripod feet and pottery bowls from the Dawenkou culture, as well as bowl-shaped tripods, deep-bellied jars, flat-bottomed bowls, stone axes, stone chisels, bone awls, and bone chisels from the Longshan culture. Han Dynasty tombs built with small bonding bricks have been found in the upper layers of the site.

According to the 1916 edition of the Huaiyang County Annals: "Jiangjia Tomb is located more than twenty li northeast of the city, commonly called Jiangjia Terrace." The original site covered an area of 20,000 square meters, stood 6 to 7 meters high, and had a smaller mound on its left side. In front of the mound stood a stele, which local legend says bore the inscription "Tomb of Jiang Gan," giving rise to the name Jiangtai.
